Night Stands before and After

This Night stand is for a client of mine that wanted a simple look.

Getting back to painting......Console table

So I forgot to take a before picture and I thought my client had sent me a before picture and can't find it. So I guess you only get to see the after photos.

I'm so excited for spring because that means I have more days that I can paint without it being too cold. Today was also a plus because it actually wasn't raining today. :)
Don't get me wrong , I love Washington State and the rain, I just don't like it when I'm trying to get projects done. :0

First Project done for the year- Lamps!

My client had these lamps that desperately needed a change and wanted to make it as simple as possible.
She didn't like the Southwestern theme because of the color and that it is Ceramic.

Here is the before picture

 So I went to work. I bought some Rust-oleum Stone Gray paint

I love this paint because it has double the coverage and I also have less paint runs if any.
for the shades, I went to Joann's fabric and bought some cream color fabric (trying to keep it as simple as possible). When I was putting on the fabric I wanted just a smooth surface and was having a hard time doing it because of the shape of the shades, and so I decided to make it pleated. That way it gave it a classic look but stayed simple.

For this project I decided to try the fabric for the backing, so I took the backing off which was not very easy and then attached the fabric and stapled it to the back and then reattached. I love the simple black and white color.

Armoire

I did this project for one of my friends. She wanted her dresser to have a update, modern feel and wanted it to match some green she had in the room. So, I decided to do the dresser in two tones and distress the top coat so the green would show through. It was a lot of work but I'm pleased with the results. The after pictures don't have the handles because we hadn't decided on one. I will post the after picture with the handles on.

Buffet Table

My husband found this at a local thrift store for $70 and we have been using it as a tv stand for a while. I didn't really like the handles and have wanted to change it for sometime. I was finally able to do it this weekend and love the results. I feel the pictures don't really do it justice but I love it anyways. If you can't tell, the color chosen was Burgundy with a black glazing for the edges. I also found the knobs at target. Let me know what you think!

Dresser-Before and After

I loved this project! I've had this dresser for about 3 years. I found it at a thrifty store after we moved to our current area and I've been wanting to do something different to it for a while. So for this project, I decided to use a Ivory color and create a distressed look because the of the Queen Anne style with the detailing and curves of the legs.

Beautiful Distressed night stand

This was one of my first projects I worked on that I sold. I picked up this baby at a local Thrift Store for $2. I was really surprised because this was a solid wood item and was really hard to carry to my car. When I got it home I went straight to work. I sanded it down, primer it with Glidden gray primer (you can pick this up at any home depot). Since I was painting the night stand black the gray primer made sense to use so I didn't have to do as many coats. After it was all painted (I used Glidden semi-gloss black paint) I used a 120 grit sand paper and began sanding the edges as well as the inside edges of the drawers, giving it a worn affect. I didn't do anything with the hardware because I felt that it added character to keep the originals. I was really proud of the results but was really sad to sell because it was such a beautiful piece, but it went to a very nice man that really loved the item. Enjoy the before and after photos.
